ART NOUVEAU HALL.The floor plan of the Art Nouveau Hall occupies the basement rooms under the large Café. It has a vaulted ceiling, consisting of six bays with oval lunettes, designed to fi t the width of the windows and passageways. The bays are separated by wide elliptical stucco molds and a gilded artistic design, which stretch to the pillars attached to the wall. The stucco decoration was made by Frantisek Kraumann and the wall paneling was supplied by the Sadilek Company. The opposite wall, with its semicircular windows, adds to the decor of the room through the rich, brightly-colored, stained-glass panes fi tted in lead bands. The wooden paneling stretches from under the windows to the front oval recess with a wooden platform, with brass grills set in the front of the podium. The platform portal is decorated with stucco molding with ornamental rectangles and a brass clock situated in the portal’s center. The bottom section is bordered by a decorative row of lights. The paneling of the curved rear wall of the platform is adorned with subtle inlays and the ceiling’s surface is enhanced with stucco diamond-shaped gilded pattern. The main feature of the opposite wall is the entrance portal of a bar, which has sidelights set in white artifi cial marble and is complemented with side mirrors. The semicircular pediment is enhanced with a decorative ceramic composition of two monkeys and ornamental garland. The hall’s furnishings, tables, and chairs are newly designed and can be modifi ed, for example, for banquets, as well for chamber concerts. The fl oor is covered with modern linoleum. When the centrally located American Bar is also opened, visitors can enjoy the attractiveness of this interestingly shaped ceremonial area.
